In the past, there were only two tests IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) which were taken by students who wish to study abroad in various programmes or by people who wish to settle abroad.

In 2009, one more test is launched known as PTE (Pearson Testing Of English). Although each exam claims to be a test of “English” in the most universal sense of that word, this is not exactly true. The IELTS relies on more British and Australian English, while TOEFL and PTE on American English.

The three tests claim to deliver equitable results but still there are some programmes who do not accept all the three exams. IELTS is more commonly accepted by Europe and Australia and TOEFL in US. PTE Academic, though the newest of three, is still accepted all over the world.

If confused between IELTS, TOEFL and PTE then choose the exams which suits your ability. There is a human interaction in IELTS, while TOEFL and PTE are computer based test and student need not to interact with the examiner and they feel more comfortable.

Furthermore, PTE gives faster results as compare to IELTS and TOEFL. In IELTS and TOEFL, it takes approximately two weeks to get the result but in PTE, students get their result in maximum five working days and sometimes in 24 hours also.

At last, no matters which test you take but do after proper preparation because this is the entry pass for your future.
