How to write a 'For and Against' essay

In ‘for and against’ essay you should write both sides in a fair way by discussing them objectively and in equal detail.

A good essay should consist of:-

1. An introductory paragraph in which you clearly state the topic to be discussed along with the thesis statement.
2. A main body in which the points for and against are discussed in different paragraphs.
3. A closing paragraph or a conclusion paragraph, including your own opinion or a summary of the essay. Do not give any new idea in the conclusion.

Points to be remembered:-

1. Before starting your essay, you should understand the topic of the essay.
2. Then identify the questions which are asked by separating the fact, opinion and question statement.
3. Brainstorm your ideas by making a separate list for ‘for and against’ points.
4. While writing make sure that each paragraph should start with a topic sentence followed by an example and ends with supporting lines.
